The start of internet art. We are not completely certain how it all blew up so fast, but there are a few theories. It could be the politics that are happening currently in each country. It could be the love of this new exciting thing: the internet. It could be people's new favorite discovered creative outlet. The journey of the net.artists began. 1997 net.art exploded. “We are the modern cunt!” This movement must have been very exciting because it opened up a whole new portal of discovery and creativity. Thinking now about digital art as a whole, there is so much that goes under it. I grew up on wix.com and made my own silly websites as a kid. That is not something any other generation can say the same about. There is so much you can do with website art. You have the freedom to post anything you want. If there is something you are passionate about and want others to be educated on, you can publish that. If there is a point of view of a certain political topic that you want people to hear about, you can publish that. If you are trying to make it as a small artist and want the world to see your art some other way, you can publish that. The internet is our oyster and the art world is only in the beginning of these discoveries. I cannot wait to see what else the art community can come up with through this journey.
